Un dimanche 1er septembre à Katmandou

Namaste depuis Katmandou où la mousson se traîne encore un peu…

Ce dimanche 1er Septembre il fait gris et très chaud et il a plut toute la nuit, mais dans la journée la météo était presque aimable.

Une journée où il fallut d’abord passer par le ministère du tourisme, signer les divers documents et autorisations, au total une petite heure avec une charmant « officier » ministérielle. Ensuite le groupe s’est divisé. Carl et Denis ont rejoint les locaux de Nima qui avait convoqué pas moins de sept lamas pour effectuer des prières et bénir l’expédition comme le veut la coutume. Franck de son côté a bataillé pendant quatre heures dans la zone de fret de l’aéroport pour récupérer les bidons de matériel. 

La petite équipe dispose maintenant de deux jours pour parfaire son équipement se délecter de Katmandou ! 

Ensuite le 4 au matin ils prendront l’avion pour Lukla avec 8 porteurs et du matériel, alors que la majeure partie de l’équipement partira sur un autre aéroport « Tumlingtar ». Et depuis Tumlingtar ce sera environ une tonne 800 de fret qui sera convoyée par quelques 60 porteurs jusqu’au camp de base du Makalu. L’équipe a fait connaissance de son troisième Sherpa-Guide, il s’agit d’un client costaud puisque Passang Gombu Sherpa a, entre autres, gravi deux fois le sommet du Makalu.

Namaste from Kathmandu where the monsoon is dragging a little... 

This Sunday, September 1, the sky is grey and it is very hot, and it rained all night, but during the day the weather was almost mild.

Today we had to go through all the necessary procedures, first we had to go to the Ministry of Tourism, sign the various necessary documents and authorizations, all together : a whole hour with a charming "ministerial officer". Then the group split up. Carl and Denis joined Nima ,who had invited no less than seven lamas to say the prayers and bless the expedition as is customary. Franck had to struggle for four hours in the cargo area of the airport to get the cans of equipment.

The little team can now have two days to complete their equipment and to enjoy Kathmandu!

Then on the 4th, in the morning they will fly to Lukla with 8 porters and equipment, while most of the equipment will fly from on another airport "Tumlingtar" . And from Tumlingtar 1.8 ton of freight will be transported by some 60 porters up to the base camp of Makalu.

The team got to meet their third Sherpa-Guide, he is a big one since Passang Gombu Sherpa has, among other things, climbed the Makalu summit twice.
